Abstract
A validity of serogrouping of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis by microagglutination test using 4 units of immune sera against O-antigens and bacterial antigens heated at 100¡Éfor 60 minutes were examined. In addition, a sensitivity of double
immunodiffusion
test using precipitinogens extracted at different temperatures were investigated.
O-groups and -subgroups of Y. pseudotuberculosis isolated from man and animals were simply identified by the agglutination with the highest dilution of 4 units of O group antisera. Precipitinogen extracted at 100¡Éfor 30 min. was most sensitive
and
specific for identifying groups and subroups.
Out of seven strains isolated from man, three strains(42.8%) belonged to 05a and the rests belonged to 02a, 03, 04b and 05a, respectively. Out of three strains isolated from healthy pigs, two belonged to 03 and the rest to 04b. Two strains
isolated
from
healthy cow belonged to 01b and 03, respectively. One strain isolated from chicken belonged to 010.
Of 13 isolates tested, four strains(30.7%) belonged to 03, three strains(23.1%) to 05a, two strains(15.3%) to 04b and the rests to 01b, 02a, 05b and 010, respectively.
These results indicate that the microagglutination test using 4 units of unabsorbed group-and -subgroup immune antisera is of use for the identification of O-groups and -subgroups of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis.
